The intro riff to Permeant has been around in my head since at least 2002, because I remember playing it on an old VAZ Modular synth back then. I wanted to put together a little vitamin pill of a track, which energizes the listener, and engages in some really insane triplet rhythms. This song was written on a keyboard and then put onto guitar, and I think it shows in that the structure is slightly different to the other tracks.

Storywise, Permeant is about my wife and myself making it down to Key West, and becoming fully immersed - permeated - in the relaxing and upbeat nature of the Florida summer. The stress is gone and it's vacation time. Maybe this is why this is the most 1980's track?!
